Following a UK debut performance of Verocai’s eponymous 1972 album at London’s Barbican, NCO reunite with the Brazilian maestro for three special European shows.
Blending together samba, jazz and bossa Arthur Verocai (1972) only gained commercial success after being was sampled by rappers like MF Doom, Ludacris and Little Brother. As his original LP became a prized collectors item the album was reissued and launched him on to the Brazilian music scene. Since then he has arranged for artists such as Marcelo Jeneci, Ana Carolina, Danilo Caymmi, Hiatus Kaiyote and many more.

100 years since the birth of Miles Davis, Peter Edwards and a five‑piece Nu Civilisation Orchestra Ensemble, featuring Mark Kavuma on trumpet, honour the jazz legend. John Akomfrah’s acclaimed 2013 documentary paints a portrait of Stuart Hall. The pioneering thinker and co‑founder of New Left Review is one of the most influential voices in British Cultural Studies. Layered with archival footage and Hall’s own reflections, the film explores identity, race, and belonging in a changing world.

Nu Civilisation Orchestra presents a powerful musical journey through Marvin Gaye’s iconic album What’s Going On, exploring the parallels between 1971 and today.
Released in 55 years ago, What’s Going On gave voice to a generation, capturing the violence and social upheaval of its time with striking clarity. Widely regarded as one of the greatest albums ever made, its themes of inequality, struggle and uncertainty remain deeply relevant more than 50 years on.
The evening opens with a performance of Gaye’s seminal film score Trouble Man, setting the tone for an unforgettable live experience.
