17 May BLACK SAINT & THE SINNER LADY, Charleston Festival 2023, near LEWES, EAST SUSSEX
NCO and the multi-award-winning dance company Clod Ensemble present an evening of live music, dance and spoken word in a highlight evening event to celebrate the launch of Charleston Festival 2023!
Tomorrow’s Warriors co-founder, bassist, and Artistic Director of Nu Civilisation Orchestra, Gary Crosby OBE explains, ‘Black Saint and The Sinner Lady is Mingus pouring fire and energy into his arrangements – undeniably dark, provocative, and sensual. I’ve always loved Mingus as a musician, improviser, and composer. This collection of music shows his uncompromising approach at its finest!’

15 September FOCUS with NUBYA GARCIA, Royal Festival Hall, LONDON
Tenor saxophonist Nubya Garcia performs alongside the 32-piece string orchestra for a show dedicated to the Stan Getz jazz masterpiece, Focus.
Focus forms part of the Nu Civilisation Orchestra’s Third Stream repertoire, situated at the confluence of jazz and classical music.
In the first half of the concert, NCO presents the world-premiere of two new works for string orchestra commissioned by Tomorrow’s Warriors, from Black British composers, Oleta Haffner and NCO’s Peter Edwards.
