Celebrating #IWD2017 with songs from Joni Mitchell’s HEJIRA

Nu Civilisation Orchestra-Hejira post

Join the Nu Civilisation Orchestra and a star-studded line-up of phenomenal women at the Royal Festival Hall, London to celebrate International Women’s Day 2017 when we’ll be playing songs from the great Joni Mitchell’s modern day classic: HEJIRA.

Blending folk, jazz and pop influences, Hejira uses the Prophet Muhammad’s Hijra as a jumping-off point to tell stories of personal journeys, figuratively and literally. We’ve got some fantastic new arrangements from Cassie KinoshiMax de Lucia and musical director, Peter Edwards that provide the perfect foil for the unique vocal gifts of each of our special guests:

Eska
Lisa Hannigan
Emel Mathlouthi
Nadine Shah
Sabrina Mahfouz

+ 40-piece choir featuring:

Southbank Centre Voicelab
with Women for Refugee Women

It’s going to be a spectacular concert and we’d love you to join us!
