Peter Edwards leads the Nu Civilisation Orchestra in an evening filled with exhilarating classic big band sounds and the specially-commissioned: A Journey with the Giants of Jazz.
Though these Giants of Jazz are now gone, their enduring music gains new life through the stellar performances of the young people taking part in The Jazz Ticket nationwide music programme. Taking motifs from this music as his starting point, Edwards melds them into a sizzling new jazz piece to be enjoyed by music lovers of all ages, from 8 to 80!
Outreach Programme: A programme for young people and their families was devised by creative producers, Tomorrow’s Warriors, enabling up to 600 young music stars of the future to be part of Tomorrow’s Warriors‘ national schools programme, The Jazz Ticket, which delivered a spectacular show, including music students in each city, to mark the centenary year of the birth of six Giants of Jazz: Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Mongo Santamaria, Thelonious Monk, Tadd Dameron and Buddy Rich. The Jazz Ticket includes online resources for schools to inspire further interest in the music of the six jazz icons.
